Guiding Good Choices

What is Guiding Good Choices® (GGC)?

Guiding Good Choices is an evidence-based program for parents/caregivers of youth ages 9-4 years old who discover specific actions that promote healthy development and reduce risky behavior in the teen years.

Risks are an inevitable part of becoming independent and Guiding Good Choices can help families by providing families with the information and tools needed to prepare their preteens and teens to make decisions inline with the family guidelines.

Just as important, families will learn ways to build or maintain lasting relationships. Evidence tells us that teenagers who are more closely connected to their families have better health and educational outcomes. Guiding Good Choice offers a strategy to increase family bonding.

How Does GGC Work?

Guiding Good Choices Workshops give families information and tools that help protect preteens and teens from the inevitable risks they encounter as they become more independent. And families will learn ways to build or maintain lasting relationships, because teenagers who are more closely connected to their families have better health and educational outcomes.

Each week new skills are introduced including, using family meetings, developing, and communicating healthy beliefs and clear standards, managing conflict in a positive way, refusal skills and strengthening bonds.

After the experience was over,
I felt myself kind of missing it.
It was nice to have a supportive
voice in my life for a little while.
I am grateful for the experience
and recommend it to anyone
who has children.
