The Social Development Research Group was pleased to send staff from both the Center for Communities that Care and The Northwest Center for Family Support to the Joint Meeting on Prevention, Treatment and Recovery in Baltimore, Maryland this March. SDRG Director, Margaret Kuklinski, Center for CTC Director of Training and Family programs, Dalene Beaulieu and Northwest Center for Family Support Project Director Jim Leighty presented in two different sessions during the event. The first session was a presentation entitled Increasing Uptake of Effective Parenting Programs: Lessons from Implementing Guiding Good Choices. During this session, our staff talked about three different settings where our family intervention Guiding Good Choices (GGC) has been implemented. The first was via Washington state treatment programs involving parents who are in recovery from opioid disorder, the second was at an Orthodox Jewish day school, and the third was in Pediatric Care practices. The second presentation was a panel that included Craig PoVey, former Prevention Administrator for Utah. Along with Mr. Povey, Dr. Kuklinski and Ms. Beaulieu explored Next Steps for Communities That Care: A Practice and Research Agenda for Youth Behavioral Health.
