SUMMARY:Guiding Good Choices Training of Workshop Leaders
DESCRIPTION:WHAT IS GUIDING GOOD CHOICES® (GGC)?\nGuiding Good Choices is
  an evidence-based program for parents/caregivers of youth ages 9-14. The 
 primary goal is to create strong family bonds that motivate youth to follo
 w family guidelines to increase the chance of better health and educationa
 l outcomes.\nWHO SHOULD USE GGC?\nSchools\, Social Workers\, Home Visitors
 \, Family Service Workers\, Public Health Agencies\, Preventionists\, and 
 Prevention Coalitions\nGGC WORKSHOP SERIES\nThe GGC workshop series for pa
 rents and caregivers is delivered over five weeks (six if delivered virtua
 lly). Each session is two hours and covers:\n\n 	Why parents may need new 
 skills as their children enter adolescence\n 	The Social Development Strat
 egy\, and how it relates to parenting\n 	Setting and using family guidelin
 es for behavior\n 	Managing conflict and expressing anger constructively\n
  	Teaching children refusal skills\n 	Involving children in the family\n\n

 —\nGGC TRAINING OF WORKSHOP LEADERS \nThis training prepares participan
 ts to lead Guiding Good Choices workshops in their community (both in-pers
 on delivery and virtual delivery). Participants will learn how the curricu
 lum supports families by providing information and teaching skills that he
 lp caregivers promote family bonding through use of the Social Development
  Strategy. The training covers:\n\n 	Keys to success for preventative pare
 nting programs\n 	Facilitation skills\n 	The Social Development Strategy\n
  	Risk and protective factor-focused prevention\n 	How to handle difficult
  questions\n 	Empowering parents and caregivers to make their own decision
 s\n\nThroughout the sessions participants will experience various approach
 es to learning including direct instruction\, role-playing\, and reflectiv
 e dialogue. This 19-hour virtual training is delivered over one week (see 
 detailed schedule below).\n\nThe training is interactive with the expectat
 ion that participants attend via a computer (not a mobile device) with a
  camera and microphone\, remain on camera and actively participate durin
 g the training\, be prepared for each session by completing assigned re
 ading preparing presentations. Each participant must have an active licens
 e prior to the first day of training in order to access the curriculum mat
